STONE COVE ESTATES — A FAMILY AFFFAIR!

Saturday November 14, 2009 marked the grand opening of a unique new home development site ‘Stone Cove Estates’ in Hagersville. Unique in that it is the first town-home condominium site of it’s kind in the booming agricultural town of approx. 3000 residents.
Not only did the sun come out in full force, so did the local community to celebrate and support the developers of these beautiful 2 bedroom homes. Janet Kazakevicius, Broker of Record of Coldwell Banker J. Kazi Realty, the Realty company representing the development co—hosted the event with the Voortman family.
Haldimand Mayor Marie Trainer was on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony and was joined by many local councilors for the event. Hagersville Chamber of Commerce President Rob Philippe presented John and Marie Voortman with a plaque from the Chamber. A crowd of approx 200 members of the public looked on including Federal Liberal Candidate and former Agricultural Minister Bob Speller.
“This project is the culmination of about 5 years of planning by a very ‘young-at- heart’ entrepreneur John Voortman and his wife Ellie" said Janet Kazakevicius. Kazakevicius went on to say "Once all the ‘t’s were crossed and ‘i’s dotted and approvals received, the project became a full family affair with John Voortman Jr., of Burman Homes as the Builder.”
John Voortman Sr. retired after a successful 25 year Real Estate Career in his 50’s. It was then he and wife Ellie opened a small retirement bakery business. Oakrun Bakery. Oakrun did ‘rise’ to number 34 in Hamilton’s top 100 places to work. Over the Nearly 30 years that the Voortman family owned the bakery business it became the largest family owned and operated businesses in the Hamilton Region and Business of the Year in 2007. "Now it’s time for Dad to return to his Real Estate Roots," said John Voortman Jr.
“We’ve all worked hard to bring affordable town homes to Hagersville," he said. "With prices starting at $169,900.00, and free Condo Fees, phone, internet, and cable thrown in for one full year, we want to make owning a home just as easy as renting," he added.
Although the senior Voortmans were out of the Country for the Grand Opening of Stone Cove Estates, John Jr. and wife Marie were on hand to Bar-be-que and serve around 200 hamburgs and hotdogs with all the trimmings. A large cake was cut and served as well to the crowd.

Kazi Realty was on hand to answer any questions as the public toured the 3 models that are now open at the site at 68A Main St. North in HagersvilIe 25 minutes south of Hamilton on Highway #6.
